Beneath
the Skin: Artwork Inspired by Tattoos will
feature national artists, whose works are inspired
by the art and culture of tattoos. The art of
tattooing- where skin is the artists canvas
- has roots in primitive tribal cultures, yet
still thrives today as an expression of individuality
and ingenuity. Beneath the Skin in the South
Gallery of MCA takes a fascinating look at tattoos
through the eyes of visual artists. Including
Shawn Barbers revealing portraits of tattoo
artists and Sherri Lynn Woods tattoo embroidered
dolls, and works by Elilzabeth McGrath and Morgan
Slade, Nick Bubash, Don Ed Hardy, John Wyatt,
Tom DeVita, Alix Lambert, Sherri Lynn Wood and
Aaron Cain.
The exhibition will run from September 12, 2008
-December 7, 2008.

Nick
Bubash can't be defined by a single medium or
style. His projects are monumental as shown
here in Book I of his latest project chronicling
his life. The works are raw and delicate, while
maintaining a constant truth to there meaning.
